Why should voters elect you?
I am running for re-election to the Wisconsin state Assembly because I believe that good politics should be a vehicle for improving people’s lives. At a time of rising costs for groceries, fuel, and healthcare, and increasing skepticism regarding the role of government, my goal remains to inspire optimism. I am committed to leading with fierce compassion, driving meaningful change, and delivering tangible results for the people of central Wisconsin.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
The cost of living has become unsustainable. From food and gas to healthcare and energy, prices are rising at an alarming rate. Everyday citizens are unfairly bearing the financial burden of federal policy failures, international conflicts, and corporate interests. The people of the 71st District deserve an economic system that is fair, just, and inclusive of everyone, not just a privileged few. We are seeking the opportunity to earn an honest living in safe, healthy, and supportive communities where we can provide for our families and enjoy a good quality of life.
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
Government should work for the people. For the past 15 years, Wisconsin has been under one-party control, and their hyper-partisan, failed leadership has adversely impacted our state. We live in a purple state with a culture of "can-do" folks who bring a diversity of skills, perspectives, and ideas to the table. Our constituents expect us to achieve results despite our political differences. Wisconsinites want bipartisanship. They are tired of the culture wars, bickering, and the "gotcha" mentality; they simply want the legislature to get to work and deliver results that will make their lives better.
What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?
Wisconsin is a state of many "capitals," which reinforces our "can-do" Wisconsin work ethic and pride in our craft, products, industriousness, and sense of place. We are home to the Beer Capital of the World, Bratwurst Capital of the World, Cranberry Capital of the World, Toilet Paper Capital of the World, Ginseng Capital of the World, Troll Capital of the World, Snowmobile Capital of the World, Loon Capital of the World, and even the UFO Capital of the World. Of course, Wisconsin is also the Cheese Capital of the World. While we proclaim these titles with pride, we do so with a deep sense of "Midwest nice" and the kind of self-deprecating humor that only a cheesehead can truly understand.
