Q&A with the Candidate
Why should voters elect you?
I’m a veteran, retired Wisconsin Corrections Sergeant, Christian, fiscal conservative, husband, father, and grandfather. I’ve dedicated my life to serving others. During my career with the Department of Corrections, I served on the Policies & Procedures Committee, led an Emergency Response Unit team, and represented fellow officers in grievance proceedings. I’ve volunteered as a driver for Camp Douglas Rescue, where I earned EVOC and CPR certifications. I’ve served as vice president of a women's pro-life resource center and vice president of WRA — an Alliance for Life, Liberty & Justice — and am currently an ambassador for Shepherd's Watch Foundation. I’ll always stand for life, liberty, election integrity, lower taxes, responsible government spending, and putting service before politics. I’m a proven conservative leader who serves people, not special interests.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
As a resident of Wisconsin's North Woods, I am especially concerned about proposals that place additional fees on outdoor recreation. The North Woods is one of Wisconsin's greatest treasures. Families come here to hike, kayak, bicycle, ski, camp, fish, and enjoy God's creation. Tourism supports local businesses, restaurants, lodging facilities, and jobs. We should be encouraging people to visit and enjoy Wisconsin—not create new barriers and new fees that make recreation more expensive, for vacationers and local families alike. Caring for our natural resources is equally important, teaching our youth the importance of conservation, responsible, safe hunting and fishing ensures these resources are available for generations to come.
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
We need to eliminate waste in government. 1. Every department should be able to find at least 10% minimum deduction of waste in their budget. 2. Every organization, that tax payer money is allocated to, needs to be independently audited. 3. Every department; for example the DNR needs to pass a real independent audit, any missing funds or miss-allocated funds, properly investigated so there can be accountability. 4. Streamline departments, cutting needless positions that repeat responsibilities, and are layered in bureaucracy.
What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?
Wisconsin has more than 15,000 lakes, actually more than Minnesota. The over 160 different species of fish that we have in our state is a fisherman's dream. We also have thousands of miles of rivers and streams in our state. The Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame is located in Hayward, also in the 74th Assembly District. One of America's favorite past times is fishing and we need to support stocking and protecting this valuable resource.
