Outdated contract provision would limit power options for Microsoft data center

We Energies says Microsoft won't be bound by language in its new electric service contract requiring new power plants dedicated to its Mount Pleasant data center to be located in eastern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. That restriction would cut Microsoft off from abundant wind power generated in neighboring states.The utility says the Public Service Commission's order — not the outdated contract language — will govern the project.
