Why should voters elect you?
My motto has always been to make sure things work and getting things done for everyone. It doesn’t matter if am in the garden, the classroom, or the board room. I’m ready to problem solve and to use my skills to fix anything that needs fixing. The mission of good governance and representation is possible. I believe we need to prohibit dark money from influencing and buying our politicians.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
Wisconsin needs to fund its public schools and universities properly. When I went to college in the late sixties the state funded over 60% of the cost of my tuition … my cost was $110 per semester. That support has dropped to 19%. That has to change. We also need to adequately fund our K-12 public schools. No more taxpayer money to private schools. We need to stop funding our public schools using property taxes. It isn’t good to pit public schools against property owners. Every Wisconsin student should have the same opportunities!
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
Rank choice voting would definitely help reform our Wisconsin political system. It would increase voter participation and help restore faith in our ability to solve problems by the government. We should also explore using something like the Montana Plan to reduce the influence of dark money on our political system.
What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?
Wisconsin has always been a leader in reforming our political system and moving the political system towards helping the working class. We were the first state to directly elect our U.S senators. We were the first state to pass workers compensation. The first state to prohibit DDT. We were the first state to have kindergarten classes. We need to continue to be first in helping to improve the lives of our working class.
