Why should voters elect you?
People matter and are worth fighting for. I’ve spent eight years in Madison fighting for constituents, and rejecting special interests. Life is unaffordable for Wisconsinites. It's far too difficult to get by. As a small business owner for almost two decades, I understand small businesses’ needs. I understand when life is tough, when family jobs are lost and the struggle to afford childcare, transportation, food and housing. There are numerous people running for office to climb a ladder--not me. I work hard, show up for constituents, and always remember who sent me to Madison, who I work for — the people. Voting is an act of trust, and I respect the trust you place in me when you vote. I’ll never take that for granted.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
Access to quality, affordable healthcare, housing and childcare; the desperate need for adequate public school funding. Property taxes have skyrocketed due to Republican lawmakers failing to properly fund the schools, and these skyrocketing property taxes have driven up already unaffordable housing costs — which has hurt every generation's need for affordable housing.
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
We deserve a Wisconsin that works for everyone, and Wisconsin with affordable healthcare — including mental healthcare, housing and childcare; communities safe from gun violence; strong public schools, universities and the trades; safe, secure, free and fair elections; state leadership engaging with the urgent needs related to climate change; an accessible world for everyBODY; and the kind of economic security and freedom that allows for all Wisconsinites to chase the American Dream.
What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?
The first kindergarten in the United States was founded in Wisconsin!
