Q&A with the Candidate

Why should voters send you to congress?

To benefit from 30 years as an award-winning, results driven lawyer/court official (90% settlement rate), to advocate for Districvt 7 in D.C. To get results that: Defend our Democracy and prioritize improving lives of "we, the people" not corporations and billionaires. To obtain laws that: fairly tax all earnings, scrap the cap, cut tax breaks for billionaires, require congress to pay promised funds in lieu of taxes (PILT) to avoid referendums for public school funding, provide quality affordable healthcare choices (Obamacare or better), require due process when defending boarders and reform the process and timelines for naturalization of qualified applicants, and DEMAND PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY for everyone who violated children and women (secret slush fund settlements for congressional sexual misconduct and Epstein co-conspirators).

What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?

Living the American Dream: when wages for an honest day's work allows families to afford a home, food, and healthcare in a community they love, with at least a week of paid vacation! This will require passing laws that provide competitive wages, affordable quality healthcare and housing, fully funded schools in a safe & healthy environment. These results can be obtained by cutting breaks for billionaires, funding needed programs, reviving the intended impact of the Clean Air Act and re-authorizing the EPA, holding Congress accountable for promises made (PILT/treaty rights), taxing equitably, and stopping corruption/fraud.

What expertise would you bring into congress? How would it help your district?

A 30-year legal career as counsel and court official, with unequivocal commitment to community & family serve as a solid foundation for advocating for the folks in this District. Invaluable experience to obtain results in DC: 1) successful advocating/issuing decisions in the best interest of children and families, and protecting abuse victims; 2) representing government entities while bringing in new funding and businesses; 3) excelling in environmental law; 4) serving as a stakeholder when creating the current Wisconsin Indian Child Welfare Act; 5) volunteering on Mid-State Independent Living Consultants board; 6) founder/small business owner; 7) win multistate class action labor union cases; 8) coach/ educate high school students; 9) utilize restorative justice, and 10) 26 year marriage with two amazing adult children.

Should Congress exert more oversight over the president? Why or why not?

ABSOLUTELY: Celebrating the 250th birthday of our independence provides the perfect lens to reflect on our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Our founders left a country run by a king to find freedom and to provide power to the people. The pillars of our democracy (and our White House) are being demolished by this right wing regime lead by POTUS as he gives orders and makes decisions that fly in the face of our Constitution (Due Process, war powers, power of the purse, etc.); our 1st Amendment (Freedom of Assembly, Press and Speech); 4th Amendment Freedom from Unreasonable Search & Seizures, and the next infraction in the next headline. Our democracy demands that the power be returned to the people, not to a dictator.
