Q&A with the Candidate

Why should voters elect you?

To use my decades of expertise and experience in the community, government and the private sector to immediately benefit the citizens of the 13th District. I will be an independent voice seeking balanced solutions and common-sense coalitions like I have on the Wauwatosa City Council over the last six years. I’ll hit the ground running with a minimal learning curve.

What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?

Affordability due to increased property taxes making it difficult to buy a home, stay in a home for seniors, and afford rental properties. Accountability in local government, especially in our school districts, which are not properly managing their budgets, staffing and student performance. State government needs to support local governments while making them more fiscally and strategically responsible.

How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?

State government needs to be much more efficient and accountable to its citizens and stakeholders. Decisions on regulations, budgeting, and federal spending, should be made more by the legislature, which is most directly accountable to the public. Limit the governor's extreme use of partial veto powers, bring remote state workers back to hybrid status the private sector, and expand the powers of state audit authority.

What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?

The Golden Fleece Award was a tongue‑in‑cheek recognition created by U.S. Senator William Proxmire (D‑Wisconsin) in 1975 highlighting what he saw as wasteful, ridiculous, or ironic use of taxpayer money. The name was a play on the Order of the Golden Fleece, a prestigious chivalric order, and on the verb “to fleece,” meaning to charge excessively.
