Why should voters elect you?
I am dedicated to serving my neighbors and community by representing their interests. I believe that the state of Wisconsin should do a better job of moving resources to local schools and neighborhoods. I am a collaborative leader who listens to my constituents and works with community to find solutions.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
Affordability is the top issue across my district. It takes shape in different ways — an expanding food desert in one part of the district intensifies food insecurity. In another part of the district, senior citizens can no longer afford property taxes and are forced to leave their neighborhoods. Everywhere prices for gas, groceries, and rent are high. I address these issues along with my colleagues by shaping polices that incentivize increased supply of housing, support emergency food systems, and help municipalities find ways to fund services.
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
Wisconsin should re-invest in public education and support unionized labor. It should roll back unfair and unproductive restrictions on Milwaukee to address issues of tenant safety.
What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?
I love that Wisconsin is the birthplace of both the Progressive movement and the abolitionist-fueled Republican Party. We have a strong dedication to the democratic principles of freedom and people-centered public policy. I hope we recapture our status as the state that leads the way in public health, public transportation, educational excellence and environmental protection.
