Q&A with the Candidate
Why should voters elect you?
My 33-year career in medicine has given me a unique insight into the struggles so many of us face: affordability, getting the health care we need, getting a good education for our kids, and keeping families safe. My opponent, Republican Tyler August and I have very different views on many issues. I will fight to expand health care, he restricts it. I will work to make sure our public schools are well funded, he has restricted funding. I will fight to raise the minimum wage and strengthen unions, he would weaken them. The list goes on. I will bring change to our state government and work to represent everyone in our district, not just wealthy donors.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
Affordability and high property taxes. One of the big drivers for high costs are medical expenses. At the state level, this can be addressed by price caps on common medicines, limiting the amount of out-of-pocket costs incurred by patients, and working to reduce administrative costs, among others, The root cause of high property tax is inadequate state funding of our public schools, which leads communities to rely on repeated property tax hikes. I will address this by working to revamp how our schools are funded, both in general aid and special ed funding.
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
We need to focus on making government work for everyone, not just the wealthy. There needs to be a focus on the economic stressors families face (housing, child care, health care, utilities, etc) and an effort to bring government policy to bear on fixing these problems. We also need to take a longer-term approach to fundamental challenges we face, such as AI and climate change.

Our brewing history, from huge companies like Miller and Pabst to smaller regional ones like New Glarus and Leinenkugel. Cheers!
