Why should voters elect you?
Representing the community I grew up in has been the honor of my life. As your state representative, I’ve worked every day to lower costs for working families, strengthen our public schools, combat climate change, expand affordable housing, protect reproductive freedom, protect workers' rights, and safeguard our democracy. As the son of Filipino immigrants, a union member, a former servicemember in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, and a lifelong West Allis resident, I understand the challenges facing working people because I’ve lived them. I believe that government should be responsive, transparent, and focused on improving people’s lives. I’m running for re-election because there is still more work to do, and I would be honored to continue serving the people of the 14th Assembly District.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
The top issue facing families in the 14th Assembly District is the rising cost of living. Too many people are struggling to afford housing, child care, utilities, health care, groceries, and other everyday necessities. I believe we need to make Wisconsin more affordable for working families by expanding access to affordable housing, lowering prescription drug costs, investing in child care, and supporting good-paying union jobs that help people keep up with rising expenses. We must also strengthen public education and workforce development programs so residents can access economic opportunities and build financial security. My focus is on practical solutions that help families get ahead and ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
Wisconsin government should be more transparent, accountable, and responsive to the people it serves. For too long, partisan gridlock and political division have prevented progress on issues that matter to working families. Government works best when elected officials listen to their constituents, engage respectfully with those who hold different views, and focus on solving problems rather than scoring political points. I believe we need a government that is accessible, ethical, and committed to serving the public interest. That means increasing transparency in decision-making, investing in public services, and ensuring every Wisconsinite has a voice in our democracy. By working collaboratively and putting people first, we can build a stronger Wisconsin for everyone.
What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?
One of my favorite Wisconsin history facts is our state’s long tradition of progressivism, conservation, and support for working people. Wisconsin was the first state in the nation to enact workers’ compensation in 1911, helping protect workers and their families. Wisconsin also played a key role in the environmental movement. Earth Day was founded by former Governor and U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson, inspiring millions of people worldwide to take action to protect our planet. These traditions reflect some of Wisconsin’s best values, where we look out for one another, protect our natural resources, and use government as a force for good. I’m proud to carry forward that Wisconsin legacy!
