Q&A with the Candidate

Why should voters elect you?

I was 19 years a union steward, Teamsters Local 662. I want to make WI worker friendly. I have served my community as a firefighter, first responder, and EMT basic. I am a Lutheran, ELCA. I support a woman's right to healthcare. If the healthcare provider determines an abortion is necessary, it should be a legal choice. I support cleaning the PFAS pollution wherever it exists. I have a BS degree in economics with supporting courses in history and quantitative analysis. I have worked as a laaborer, using my education as a union steward. I could have had a career in economics, But i chose to be a worker, fighting for workers rights.

What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?

The Bend Gold and Copper Mine. It is contained in a sulfide ore that turns into sulfuric acid when exposed to air and water. It is very near the Yellow River. Any spill could pollute the ground water, drinking water, and possibly the ground around it. In the 1990s the Wisconsin Legislature passed a 'Prove it First' mining law. It was repealed during the Walker Administration. I would support legislation passing some sort of the 'Prove it First' mining law.

How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?

There is a lack of respect for the "rule of law" by some local sheriff's departments. They ignore complaints about stealing campaign signs. They let some illegal activity pass without reporting. While prosecuting others. This has happened in our local village. Law enforcement ignored my report of the village president having the village pay his delinquent sewer bill. The president then did other questional practices. Who in state government can a person call if the sheriff and district attorney ignore illegal activity. A system should be established that doesn't require suing the sheriff in the court where he charges other criminals. I believe no one should be above the law.

What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?

The Green Bay Packers are the only NFL team owned by local investors.
