Why should voters elect you?
I bring proven experience working with people I don’t always agree with. From the Marine Corps to the county board, I’ve been part of environments where people come from different backgrounds and viewpoints. We still found ways to come together and get things done for the community. I understand what it means to be part of a team, and I know we all have to live with the results of the decisions we make. That’s why I approach this work with a focus on practical solutions, listening first, and being accountable for the outcome. As a state senator, I’ll bring that same approach to Madison and work just as hard for the people here.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
What I hear consistently from people is the pressure of rising costs and the feeling that decisions are being made without real local input. At the same time, we see infrastructure needs, public services under strain, and local communities being asked to shoulder more of the burden when the state doesn’t function as it should. We need to refocus on the basics. That means investing in infrastructure and services people rely on, supporting local control, and making decisions based on what actually works for the communities affected. At the state level, I’ll stay focused on outcomes and work to make sure our communities aren’t left carrying the cost of inaction or gridlock.
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
Too often, decisions are made based on positioning rather than what actually works for people. I believe in a more practical, locally grounded approach that starts with listening, works across differences, and stays focused on solving problems. That also means being transparent about decisions, explaining the tradeoffs, and staying accessible to the people being represented. We don’t need more politics. We need steady leadership focused on delivering results, being honest about how decisions are made, and making sure those decisions reflect the needs and voices of the people.
What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?
One of my favorite Wisconsin history facts is that a piece of Sputnik IV actually fell in Manitowoc in 1962. A chunk of a Soviet satellite landed right in the middle of the street. It’s one of those stories that reminds you how even a small community can end up connected to something much bigger. It’s also a good reminder of how local history shapes identity. Whether it’s something unusual like that, or something foundational like Wisconsin being home to the first kindergarten, those moments reflect how communities think, learn, and grow over time.
